Vic is slowly getting better. His nose to stomach tube was removed last night so they could attempt to give him the medication he normally uses on a daily basis and start him eating fluids. His blood pressure is still quite high, as well as his sugar levels. His goal for today was to walk around the hospital floor 5 times today. And he accomplished that! He's much more lucid now since he was taken off the constant iv pain medication. He still has the pain pump (which he controls), though, and also the continuous pain medication going into the incision. We met with the doctors again - Dr. Sardi will be away next week, so we met his assistant surgeon, who will be taking care of Vic until we go home. Dr. Sardi said that if he continues to improve and they can get his blood pressure and sugar under control, he may be released Sunday but more likely Monday. Thank you all again for your kind thoughts and prayers.

Barb and Vic,
ReplyDeleteWe really appreciate the updates. Mom is going to Mass at St. Christophers this afternoon and will light several candles for Victor. They have a beautiful courtyard with all of the saints statues around it. In the center is lush foilage and flowers. It is a very relaxing place to pray and meditate. Victor has been on her mind, and ours of cours also, and I have been relaying the updates to her once I open them up. She is getting fairly proficient on the computer if she remembers how to open up her email.
We love you both very much please take care of yourself also.
Linda
